Georgia's coffee history

Coffee first appeared in Europe thanks to trade routes from the Ottoman Empire, spreading through Venice and further across the continent. In the 17th century, coffee houses became centers of intellectual discussion and social gatherings, which contributed to the spread of coffee around the world.

In Georgia, as in many other countries, coffee became popular through cultural exchange and trade. Wine cellars and restaurants in Tbilisi often offer their guests not only traditional Georgian wines, but also quality coffee, which makes a visit to these places especially attractive for connoisseurs of this drink.

Modern Georgian coffee shops offer a variety of coffees, using both local and imported varieties. This reflects global trends in coffee culture, where emphasis is placed on the quality of the beans and the art of brewing. By finding a good Georgian restaurant you can also enjoy a variety of flavors and types of quality coffee.
